  Austin Bliss, President and Co-Founder

Austin first conceived of the value of linking old and new email addresses over a decade ago, when he was trying to locate an old friend. He was the driving force behind the original design and development of FreshAddress’s patented Email Change of Address (ECOA) technology. Prior to FreshAddress, Austin also won national recognition for his innovative technical work with the UN and the Carnegie Foundation.

Austin is an active member of the Direct Marketing Association’s Committee for Environmental & Social Responsibility, Chairperson of the List Growth & Engagement Committee for the Email Experience Council, Board Member for the Program Advisory Committees for the DMA’s DMDays and NCDM conferences, a frequent content contributor to industry publications, and a highly-regarded presenter at national industry events and conferences

The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation recently named Austin a “Rising Star,” an award bestowed on four individuals under 40 across the country who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, a track record of outstanding results, and a solid reputation for "giving back" through direct marketing education.

Austin is a graduate of Amherst College. 


  Bill Kaplan, CEO and Co-Founder

Bill is responsible for guiding the strategic development and growth of FreshAddress, Inc. Prior to FreshAddress, Bill founded Linden Properties, Inc., Recovery Strategies, Inc., and Strategic Investments LP, companies in the real estate, consulting and technology fields.

Linden Properties has acquired and developed over $100 million of commercial real estate for tenants including BankBoston, CVS, Bank of America, Houghton Mifflin, MIT, Partners Health Care, Royal Ahold (Stop & Shop), SuperValu, and Walgreens.

A recognized expert on the subject of email database hygiene and deliverability issues, Bill is a frequent content contributor to numerous publications and a frequent speaker at sponsored industry events.

Bill is also the co-founder of the MIT Blackjack Team, whose exploits gained notoriety in the national bestseller, "Bringing Down the House."  The movie version of the book, "21," was released March 28, 2008, starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, and Laurence Fishburne.

Bill graduated Magna Cum Laude in Economics from Harvard College where he received the outstanding scholar-athlete award.  He also earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.  Bill is also a former world-ranked professional squash player.


  Jodi Baier, Marketing Manager

Jodi is responsible for strategic marketing and communications at FreshAddress. In previous roles, Jodi was Marketing Director for Babson Executive Education, a top-tier executive education provider, and Co-Founder/Director of a niche global MBA program at Suffolk University in Boston.

Prior to Suffolk, Jodi was a Product Manager for Excara, a high-tech start-up providing e-commerce and software solutions for manufacturers.  She also worked at Ford Motor Company as a marketing executive trainee. In all roles, Jodi developed, creatively marketed, and successfully executed quality programs.

Jodi has a BA from Kenyon College and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.


Mark Rafferty, Manager of Account Services

Mark has over twenty years of successful client service experience as well as extensive exposure to the email and list rental industry through his past work experience at magazine publishers Conquest Business Media and Quinlan Publishing, and Internet conglomerate Divine, Inc.

As Director of Client Services at Divine, Mark oversaw the operations of a team of project managers, technology consultants, and implementation specialists and directed the implementation and troubleshooting of enterprise software systems for high-profile clients.

Mark earned his BA and MBA from University of Massachusetts-Lowell.


Ed Samp, Channel Sales Manager

Ed is responsible for growing and expanding relationships with valued partner organizations, including database providers, Email Services Providers (ESPs), advertising and interactive agencies, and direct marketing companies.  

Ed spent the last 20+ years founding and running a few different companies, including Outletzoo.com. Outletzoo.com provided software and services to enable companies (e.g. hotel chains among others) to sell excess inventory, and two of Ed's 200 hotel clients were Sonesta and Hawthorne Suites.  Prior to that, Ed worked in business development for Honeywell Information Systems.

Ed graduated with a BA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Austin Jordan, Director of List Processing

Austin is the lead technical professional for data transmission and processing at FreshAddress. Austin is an expert programmer, with over seven years’ experience in IT.

Austin holds a BA in Computer Science from Wheaton College.
